📍 Monaco
The Jules Massenet Statue is a public monument in Monaco honoring the French composer Jules Massenet (1842–1912), a major figure in late Romantic opera. His connection to the principality was especially strong through the Opéra de Monte-Carlo, which staged the premieres of several of his works, including Le jongleur de Notre-Dame, Chérubin, and Don Quichotte. The portrait sculpture and formal pedestal reflect Monaco’s long-standing association with European opera and provide a quieter cultural counterpoint to the principality’s grand hotels, gardens, and Belle Époque architecture.
