📍 China
Jintang Bridge spans the Hai River in central Tianjin, near the southern end of the Ancient Culture Street area. Built as a steel bridge in 1906, it reflects the engineering and commercial transformation of a port city shaped by river transport and foreign concessions. The bridge also holds strong civic significance: during the Battle of Tianjin in January 1949, two People’s Liberation Army assault forces met here, an event associated with the city’s liberation. Its dark metal trusses, geometric cross-bracing and opening central span stand out against the modern riverfront, while the structure’s low profile creates clear views along the Hai River. From the embankments, the bridge can be framed with passing boats, waterfront buildings and reflections that emphasize Tianjin’s layered industrial and urban character.
