The Jardines del Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos (Gardens of the Alcazar of the Christian Monarchs) are stunningly beautiful, historic walled gardens located in the heart of the old Moorish city of Córdoba, Spain. They were first laid out during the 14th Century, but were significantly expanded in the 16th Century and are now regarded as one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city.

The gardens are filled with peaceful shaded pathways, serene ponds and streams and beautiful ornamental plants and trees. You’ll find citrus and checkerboard fruit trees, weeping willows, magnolias and exotic palms, as well as a kaleidoscope of flowers which bloom throughout the spring and summer months. All this is framed by glorious archways and fortifications of the Alcazer itself. The gardens provide a tranquil respite from the hustle and bustle of the city and a welcome sight from above, as the gardens are set amidst the impressive terracotta rooftops and mosque spires of Córdoba. They are a fantastic spot for a leisurely stroll and for enjoying the magical, often playful, games of light and shadow which are created by the trees and fountains.
