Jardines de Alfabia is a historic country estate near Bunyola, at the foot of Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana on the route between Palma and Sóller. Its house, orchards and gardens preserve layers of Mallorcan design shaped by Islamic water engineering and later Renaissance, Baroque and Romantic influences. Channels, cisterns and fountains distribute mountain water through dense subtropical planting, while stone paths, pergolas and an avenue of plane trees create a sequence of shaded spaces. The most recognizable photographs use the symmetry of the water features, the reflections beneath the foliage and the contrast between weathered masonry and vivid greenery; shafts of filtered light add depth to the long garden perspectives.
