The James R. Thompson Center, located in the heart of Chicago's Loop neighborhood, is an iconic structure known for its unique architectural style. Housed within its walls lies the Illinois State Government, which includes the State Capital, House of Lords, Senate, and House of Representatives. The building was finished in 1985, with the help of then-serving Governor James R. Thompson, after whom the building is named. It stands at 172 meters (568 ft) tall, with 16 stories in all. The exterior of the building is composed of a concrete and steel frame, along with multi-colored glass panels, while its interior is filled with marble, granite, and artistry. There are many floor galleries, restaurants, and stores to explore, as well as visual spaces to admire. Whether you’re visiting for the architecture or for the shops, The James R.
