The Jaisalmer Fort is a two-millennia old Fort in the desert-city of Jaisalmer, India. It is also known as the Sonar Quila, Golden Fort, or Jaisalmer Fort Palace. The fort was built between 1156 - 1168 AD and still stands today, making it one of the oldest living forts in India. The fort has walls of around 15 meters high and a circumference of 30 meters and is one of the last living heritage sites of India. It is also known as the yellow fort due to the yellow colour it takes in the sun. The fort boasts four entrances located at its perimeter that have been richly carved and handicrafted, each gate is beautifully decorated with their own designs and motifs. Inside, there are majestic palaces, mansions and temples, all adorned with designs and stone sculptures that give the Jaisalmer Fort an even more majestic feel. When visiting the fort, a few must-see places are the government palace, the Maharwal's palace and the main spire, the Raj Mahal. All of these make for mesmerizing picturesque views and should not be missed by any visitor .
