Jacques-Cartier Bridge
📍 Canada
The Jacques-Cartier Bridge is a steel truss bridge that stretches over the Saint Lawrence River in Montreal, Canada, connecting the island of Montreal to the South Shore. It is one of the most iconic bridges in Quebec, both from a historical and aesthetic point of view. Built over a period of 12 years, from 1932 to 1944, the bridge spans a total length of 1082 meters and has a total of 25 spans, the longest of which is 94 meters. It is an expression of Art Deco style, with carved and painted shapes on the main cable towers and staircases on all four of its pairs of pillars, giving it a spectacular look. The bridge provides perfect views of the city skyline and is perfect for a nice stroll, admiring the view of the bustling port of Montreal and the glimmering River Saint Laurent. As the bridge is located in the heart of Montreal, it is also a great spot for enjoying the sights and sounds of the city. There are a variety of restaurants and activities near the bridge, including a dynamic market, shopping district, marina, and observation points. Make sure to take advantage of this prime spot during your travels in Montréal!
