İztuzu Beach is a long, narrow sand barrier on the coast of Ortaca, near Dalyan, separating the Mediterranean from the reed-lined waterways of the Dalyan delta. Its open seaward shore, calm lagoon side and pine-covered hills create a distinctive meeting of beach, wetland and forest, especially visible from elevated viewpoints and on the boat approach through the delta. The beach is an important nesting ground for loggerhead sea turtles, or Caretta caretta, which has shaped its protected character. Marked nest areas and seasonal conservation restrictions should be respected.
