Itsukushima Jinja Sessha Marodo Jinja Haiden, also known as Itsukushima Shrine, is a Shinto shrine located on the island of Miyajima in Hatsukaichi, Japan. The shrine was built in the 12th century and is famous for its torii gate that appears to be floating in the water. The main hall, Haiden, is used for worship ceremonies and is connected to the entrance by a long corridor. The shrine is considered one of the most scenic places in Japan and is a popular spot for photo-travelers. Visitors can explore the shrine and its gardens, as well as take a ferry ride around the torii gate for a unique perspective. The island itself also offers other attractions, such as hiking trails and wild deer roaming freely. Admission to the shrine is free, but there is a small fee to enter some areas. It is best to visit during high tide when the torii gate is surrounded by water and during the autumn months for the beautiful fall foliage.
