The Itsukushima Floating Torii Gate is an iconic landmark located on the sacred island of Itsukushima in Hatsukaichi, Japan. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is comprised of a unique, red lacquered and vermillion-lacquered gate that floats atop the waters of the Seto Inland Sea. A visit to the shrine wouldn't be complete without seeing the stunning view of the gate and the mountains in the background. The shrine complex is composed of several shrine buildings, a shrine garden, and a large shrine gate, all composed in an impressive and harmonious display of traditional and ancient architecture.
