📍 Türkiye
İstanbul spans Europe and Asia across the Bosphorus, while Beyoğlu occupies its European side, rising from the northern shore of the Golden Horn. Historically known as Pera, the district became a center of foreign embassies, commerce and cultural life during the Ottoman period, a legacy visible in its churches, ornate apartment façades and covered shopping passages. İstiklal Avenue links Taksim Square with the streets leading toward Galata, with its red heritage tram providing a recognizable focal point amid the pedestrian crowds. The cylindrical Galata Tower anchors the district’s skyline, contrasting with the dense layers of surrounding buildings. From viewpoints overlooking the Golden Horn, the domes and minarets of İstanbul’s historic peninsula appear across the water, making the relationship between Beyoğlu and the older city especially clear.
