📍 From Inside, Türkiye
İstanbul Havalimanı (IST) is the city’s principal international airport, set in Arnavutköy on Istanbul’s European side, northwest of the historic center and near the Black Sea. It assumed the role formerly held by Atatürk Airport for scheduled passenger traffic in 2019 and serves as the main hub of Turkish Airlines. Its immense terminal is defined by broad sightlines, ribbed ceilings, geometric skylights and polished floors that catch reflections from signs and moving travelers. Outside, the tulip-inspired air traffic control tower provides the airport’s most distinctive silhouette, while the terminal’s scale conveys Istanbul’s position as a major crossroads between Europe, Asia and beyond.
