Isola San Giulio is a tiny island located off the atmospheric town of Orta San Giulio in Northern Italy. Here, you can visit the impressive Basilica of San Giulio which dates back to the 4th century and is dedicated to San Giulio, who was said to have banishes the dragons from the lake. Piazza Motta is a picturesque square situated in the centre of the town. The square is home to some of the most impressive small churches and monuments to be found in Orta San Giulio, dating back to the 15th century. The lakeside views stretching around the lake and out towards the Isola San Giulio are simply stunning and make a day trip to Orta San Giulio absolutely unforgettable. The town of Orta San Giulio is also a great place to wander around, with its cobbled streets, artisan shops and local cafes.
