Islandhof, on the east Frisian island of Spiekeroog, is recognized as one of the most beautiful places in Germany, with its tranquil landscape and stunning wadden sea views. It encompasses a landscape of salt marshes, dunes, and stunning beaches, situated south of the North Sea. Detached holiday houses and camping sites provide accommodation, whilst there are also placid fishing spots and windsurfing centres to enjoy. Bird watchers come to observe the amazing array of species on the land and in the sea’s shallow waters. Nature trails meander through the island and take visitors past cliffs, sand dunes and idyllic fishing villages. The warmest months to visit are July and August when the beaches come alive with beach-goers and fun activities. Visit the museum ‘Leben in alten Zeiten’ to gain a fascinating insight into life on the island throughout the 19th Century.
