📍 From Drone, Panama
Isla de Coiba lies off Panama’s Pacific coast in the Gulf of Chiriquí, within the wider La Galera and Veraguas maritime region. The country’s largest island forms the heart of Coiba National Park and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site recognized for its exceptional marine ecosystems. Decades of restricted access while the island served as a penal colony left extensive rainforest and surrounding waters relatively undisturbed, supporting endemic wildlife, coral reefs, sharks, rays, turtles, and seasonal cetaceans. Visually, Coiba is defined by densely forested hills meeting pale beaches, mangrove edges, and clear blue-green water; offshore islets add scale and depth to coastal compositions. Access is by boat, and visitors must follow national park regulations and use authorized landing areas.
