The Imperial Sand Dunes in Brawley, United States present an expansive desert landscape and an ethereal, sandy expanse that proves one of California’s most impressive natural wonders. Located 3 miles west of Brawley, Imperial Sand Dunes is crisscrossed by plenty of off-road areas and 15 miles of riding trails, and is considered one of the biggest stretches of sand dunes in the U.S. The dunes were created over millions of years ago due to the sediment washing downstream and the wind-blown sand creating mounds of up to 200 feet. Enhanced by a dry and balmy climate, the natural dunes covers an area of 45 miles, while the additional surrounding areas provide endless hours of desert fun! With a colorful and diverse wildlife as well as towering sand mounds to explore, and a bit of bravery, adventurers of all ages can enjoy sand and dune-sledding and 4WD mountaineering.
