Iglesias en Carmo is an iconic church in the centre of Porto, Portugal. Built in 1910, the baroque exterior and the neoclassic interior is remarkable giving it an exquisite atmosphere. It has several azulejo (Portuguese tiles) depicting Saint Francis of Assisi and Saint Anthony. This grandeur 17th-century Roman Catholic Church stands in the top of Porto's highest hill in the parish of Carmo. Its main facade is recognized by its large and carved doorway, porch and square tower. The interior boasts a beautiful central nave and several small chapels. Visitors have the choice to climb the bell tower and enjoy the spectacular view that reveals the city and the Douro River. Nearby is the famous Clérigos Tower and Santo Ildefonso Church.
