Iglesia de Santa Maria de la Asunción is a beautiful 13th century church in Castro-Urdiales in Cantabria, Spain. The building features Roman and Gothic architectural elements, such as its large door with a lintel and crenelated battlements. Inside, the church is adorned with several interesting relics, such as its 12th century baptismal font, an altar dating back to the 18th century, and the chapel of Santos Ninos, devoted to Jerez de la Frontera, which was moved to its current location from a Carmelite convent in the 17th century. The church is also home to a variety of artworks, including works by Murillo and Goya, as well as numerous frescoes and sculptures. Visitors to the church can also enjoy its peaceful courtyard that is framed with majestic arches and is ideal for enjoying a quiet moment surrounded by nature.
