📍 From Inside, Czechia
Idiom is a book installation by Slovak artist Matej Krén in the entrance hall of the Municipal Library of Prague on Mariánské náměstí, in the Old Town. A cylindrical tower of tightly stacked books surrounds a teardrop-shaped opening, while mirrors above and below create the illusion of an endless tunnel of pages. The contrast between solid paper volumes and apparent infinity makes the work instantly recognizable, with repeating book spines adding color, texture, and rhythm. As it stands inside a functioning public library, access follows the building’s opening times.
