Hunyad Castle, in Romania, is an impressive 14th-century fortress and one of the region's most important monuments. Its history is closely tied to the Hunedorean region, as it served as an important defensive stronghold in the 15th and 16th centuries, and later as the administrative center of the province. The castle is a mixture of Gothic and Renaissance architecture, built by John Hunyadi and his son Matthias Corvinas. The turrets, the towers and the walls, with their battlements, create an atmosphere of fortification and strength. Within the walls and towers, you can find the church of St. Nicholas, and numerous art galleries, where you can admire 16th-century paintings and sculptures. The walls also contain an ethno-botanical garden and a zoological park. The castle shows a great variety of architectural styles, monuments, and attractions, making it an interesting and unique place, to explore and enjoy.
