The Hungarian Parliament, located in Budapest, Hungary, is an impressive 19th century structure located on the banks of the Danube River. The building was designed by Imre Steindl, and is the largest Parliament building in Europe. It sits atop Castle Hill, a hill that used to be part of the ancient Roman city of Aquincum. The building is 368 meters (1, 207 feet) long, 120 meters (394 feet) wide and 96 meters (315 feet) tall at its highest point. Its facade is adorned with elaborated statues and sculptures. The House of the National Assembly and the House of the Federation are the two parliamentary chambers. The hall in the central part of the building is used for ceremonial functions and is decorated with beautiful paintings and chandeliers. Inside the hall, visitors can also admire the magnificient Dome Hall, that has murals depicting Hungary’s political and military history. It is definitely a sight to behold.
