Huangpu River
📍 China
Huangpu River can be found in downtown Shanghai, running along the western side of Huangpu District. The name Huangpu comes from two ancient rivers which converged in the area (Huangpu and Suzhou Rivers). An important part of Shanghai's historic, cultural and contemporary development, the river divided the city's old and new districts. The Bund, on the eastern side of the river houses old European-style buildings, while the Pudong area, on the western edge, is filled with modern skyscrapers. Cruise boats are a popular tourist attraction, offering the unique opportunity to experience both river banks at once. Different bridges can also be seen crossing the river and the famous Nanpu, Lupu and Yangpu bridges are some of the main highlights. In addition, iconic landmarks such as Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Jin Mao Tower and Shanghai Tower are also set along the Huangpu River. With stunning night views of both sides of Shanghai, the river surely is an impressive sight to behold.
