Храм Святого Бруно Кверфуртского / Church of Saint Bruno of Querfurt
📍 From Пионерская улица / Pionerskaya Street, Russia
The Church of Saint Bruno of Querfurt is a Roman Catholic landmark in Chernyakhovsk, the former East Prussian city of Insterburg. Built in the early 20th century in red-brick neo-Gothic style, it reflects the city’s layered German, Soviet, and modern Russian history. The church is dedicated to Bruno of Querfurt, a missionary bishop who was martyred in 1009 while preaching near the medieval Prussian frontier. Its tall bell tower, pointed-arch windows, buttresses, and steep roof create a strong vertical silhouette, while the patterned brickwork rewards closer views. As an active place of worship, the interior should be photographed with consideration for services and parishioners.
