It was built in the 2nd century BC by two wealthy freedmen, Aulus Vettius Conviva and Aulus Vettius Restitutus. The house is known for its luxurious and elaborate decorations, such as frescoes depicting mythological scenes and intricate mosaics. The interior of the house is divided into different sections, including a central courtyard, a tablinum (reception room), and a peristyle garden. Visitors can also see a well-preserved kitchen and a cellar with original wine jars. The house is a popular tourist attraction, offering a unique glimpse into the daily life of ancient Romans. Admission to the House of the Vettii is included in the ticket for the Pompeii archaeological site.
