📍 From Gardens, France
The Hôtel de Ville de Soissons is the city’s town hall, housed in the eighteenth-century Hôtel de l’Intendance near the River Aisne in the historic center. Its original role as the seat of a royal intendant reflects Soissons’s importance in provincial administration before the French Revolution. The pale stone façade, regularly spaced tall windows and prominent central section retain the formal character of a grand residence. Viewed straight on, the building’s symmetry gives a clear visual expression of the order and authority its architecture was designed to convey.
