Holyrood Abbey is a historic abbey located in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, and is the world's oldest-surviving building dedicated to the Apostolic ministry. Founded in 1128, the abbey is situated in the heart of the city and is a site of royal association and royal history. Inside the abbey, visitors can explore its fascinating grand choir, crypt, altar and chapter house. Whilst visiting, you'll also be able to explore the St. Anthony's Chapel and the ruins of the original (destroyed) palace. Holyrood Abbey is the birthplace of several influential people, such as Mary, Queen of Scots, and James V. There is also a rich history of relics, such as the crown jewels that have been directly associated with Mary, Queen of Scots. The whole of the abbey is worth exploring and is a great place to take a stroll and soak in the atmosphere of royal Scotland.
