📍 From Charlie Turner Trail, United States
The Hollywood Sign is a world-famous landmark in the Los Angeles hills. Located 45 feet high, it is visible from the city, perched on Mount Lee in the Hollywood Hills, an exclusive residential area of the city. The sign reads ‘Hollywood’ in forty-five-foot high white letters. The sign was constructed in 1923 and originally read ‘Hollywoodland’, as a real-estate advertisement. In 1949, the sign was refurbished and its installers removed the last four letters of the sign. The Hollywood Sign is an iconic symbol of not just the city of Los Angeles, but the entertainment industry. Tourists visiting the city and the area around it flock to get a photo with the Hollywood Sign view. To experience the drama and the vibe of the sign, visitors can go to the Griffith Observatory, the trails of Bronson Canyon, and the Hollywood & Highland entertainment complex. Many visitors get a ground-level photography of the sign due to the dense vegetation in the surrounding area.
