Hollywood Sign

The Hollywood Sign is an iconic landmark located in the Hollywood hills, in the Los Angeles neighbourhood of the same name. It is a white 'HOLLYWOOD' lettering, 45 feet (14 m) in height and 350 feet (107 m) in length. First created in 1923 as an advertisment for a real estate group, it has gone through various transformations, including when it was changed to read 'HOLLYWOODLAND' in 1923. Today, it is a symbol of L.A.'s filmmaking industry and the surrounding entertainment district. It can be reached by car and offers a fantastic view of the city below, although a hike up the hills allows for an even better view. Local residents often discourage tourists from visiting the sign as it has become increasingly busy since its rise to fame, but it is still worth a visit as an emblem of American culture and a representative of the City of Angels.
