The Hollywood Sign is an iconic landmark in Los Angeles, located just to the northeast of the Hollywood Hills neighborhood in the Santa Monica Mountains. It was originally built in 1923 as an advertisement for a local real-estate development, and it’s become known around the world as the symbol of the glamorous Hollywood lifestyle. The sign stands at 45 feet tall, is 350 feet wide, and is visible from miles away. It is a popular spot among locals and tourists alike. Visitors can easily reach the best views of the Hollywood Sign by taking a short hike from nearby Griffith Park. The View Park-Windsor Hills neighborhood provides the closest legal view of the Hollywood Sign, with Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood & Highland center providing popular viewing spots. Parking is often difficult near the sign, however, there are several paid parking lots found close to the hiking area, with the Barnsdall Art Park offering the closest access from Hollywood Boulevard.
