Hohensalzburg Fortress is an awe-inspiring medieval castle high up on the hills of Salzburg, Austria. Inside, visitors can explore a range of rooms and ogle at the remarkable views of the city below. If the cable car to the fortress is closed, the only way to get there is by a winding road up the hillside. Popular attractions inside the fortress include the Marionette Museum, the Salzburg Bull Museum, the Golden Hall, the Rainer Hall, the Chapel of St. George, and the Wall of Corpses. There are also a few restaurants, cafés, and shops, plus an interactive audio guide. The fortress can be visited as part of a day tour or as part of a guided tour, provided by the Salzburg Tourism Centre.
