Hoc Opus – Ritorno alla Bellezza is an exhibition project in San Ginesio, a fortified hill town in the Marche province of Macerata. It presents local artistic heritage through the lens of recovery, reconnecting the community with works displaced or made inaccessible after the central Italian earthquakes of 2016. The title combines the Latin “Hoc Opus,” meaning “this work,” with “Return to Beauty,” framing conservation as part of the town’s wider cultural renewal. For photographers, the interest lies in close views of sacred imagery, aged surfaces and restored details, as well as the contrast between these carefully preserved works and San Ginesio’s earthquake-marked historic setting.
