The Highway of Heroes (Hwy. 401) in Toronto, Canada, is a memorial highway that commemorates the fallen Canadian soldiers who served in the country's military. The highway, which carries the distinctive white and red flags of Canada, is dedicated to the memory of the over 118,000 Canadians who sacrificed their lives to the country. It runs along the busiest highway in Ontario and is often seen as a symbol of Canada's gratitude to its heroes. The Highway of Heroes includes a number of memorials in its vicinity, such as the Canadian Heroes Memorial Park, a remembrance garden located in Pickering, Ontario, as well as the Vimy Memorial Bridge, a bridge in Stouffville, Ontario, that is dedicated to the soldiers of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
