📍 From Riverwalk, United States
The Hernando de Soto Bridge spans the Mississippi River in Memphis, Tennesee, connecting Memphis to West Memphis, Arkansas. Opened in 1973, the bridge is a steel tied arch bridge featuring four curved arches that span the width of the Mississippi River. With four lanes in each direction, the bridge is the largest of the four bridges that connect Memphis to Arkansas, and provides access to I-55, I-40, and I-22. The bridge is a prominent feature of the Memphis skyline and the rise of the bridge can be seen from the banks of the Mississippi. Visitors can take in the stunning view of the bridge by viewing it from Memphis’s Mud Island River Park, with the pyramid shaped building of the Memphis skyline as a backdrop.
