Heiwa Jizoson
๐Ÿ“ Japan
Heiwa Jizoson is an impressive sight in Tokyo's Taito City, dedicated to Jizo, a Buddhist deity. It consists of a series of 60 Jizo statues, each unique in design, to memorialize the souls of children, the unborn, and stillborns. Carved during the Meiji period, each statue stands a meter tall and faces towards the Tokyo Skytree nearby. It's a tranquil area where visitors can find respite from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, and a unique site for those interested in Tokyo's ceramic and handicraft history. Make sure to bring an umbrella, as the area gets quite foggy during the wintertime!
