Heidelberg Palace is an iconic landmark of Heidelberg, Germany. It is a red sandstone ruin dating back to the 13th century, located on the banks of the Neckar River. The palace has been a symbol of the city for centuries and has inspired various romantic poets and authors. Its garden terrace is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the area. From the terrace, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city and the surrounding countryside. The palace was heavily damaged during the Thirty Years' War and most of the interior was destroyed in the 1764 great fire. It was rebuilt between the 18th and 19th centuries, but the style of the new building meant it lacked the fairytale charm of the original Gothic palace. Today, the palace is a museum, with various interactive displays and exhibitions to teach visitors more about its rich history.
