Hassan II Mosque
📍 Morocco
Hassan II Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world. Situated in Casablanca, Morocco, it is also one of the most impressive religious buildings in the country.

Built between 1986 and 1993, the stunning mosque stands proudly at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Its impressive 210-meter tall minaret is visible throughout the city. The grand interior of the mosque can accommodate up to 25,000 people for prayer; it’s also the only mosque in Morocco allowing non-Muslims to enter. The internal decoration includes amazing Arabic calligraphy, as well as zellige (handcrafted ceramic tiles) and carpentry with a variety of woods, cedar, sycamore and more. The exterior of the mosque is just as impressive, with azure-tiled facades, vast gardens and courtyards. From the terrace on the roof, you can get an incredible view of the mosque and city beyond. There’s also a Mausoleum dedicated to the late King Hassan II. It includes seven levels, the top one being reserved for prayers. Inside the crypts, you’ll find a tranquil and subdued atmosphere.
