Hartford & Great River Park offers a breath of nature in the bustling urban center of East Hartford, Connecticut. This popular park is known for its incredibly scenic nature trails and riverfront picnic areas. Visitors can enjoy swimming and fishing in the park's two ponds, or traverse the trails and observe a variety of wildlife spots. There are a count of six trails spread throughout the park with a total of 4.5 miles of walking trails and two miles of wooded trails for hikers. In addition, there are many observation spots, bird watchers' areas, and sculptures of wildlife on display. Boaters can access the Connecticut River from mid-April to mid-November and the boat launch at the park. The park also hosts a variety of events and programs throughout the year and includes a Maine-style lighthouse, a wetlands viewing platform open seasonally, and plenty of picnic areas with charcoal grills for visitors' convenience.
