Hammersmith Bridge is a suspension bridge over the River Thames in London, England. Built in 1887, its name references its close proximity to the London district of Hammersmith. It connects the north and south banks of the Thames in between Barnes and Hammersmith. Its shallow arches, designed by the engineer Jonathan Battishill, are noted for their simplicity and beauty. The bridge is a Grade II* Listed building, with stunning views of London in the background. Enjoy a stroll across the bridge and take in the sights of some of London’s most famous landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament, St Paul’s Cathedral, and the Shard. If you’re interested in learning more about the bridge, local guided walks and lectures are offered, taking you past the bridge and into the history of the area.
