Hammershus Slotruin is Denmark's largest castle ruin, located on the northern tip of the Danish island of Bornholm. The first castle was built here in the 1200s, and though it's been destroyed several times in its history, its remains are still visible. Today, visitors can explore the ruin’s winding corridors, crumbling walls and staircases, courtyard, and dungeon while listening to the stories of its history. There is also a museum at the site, where visitors can learn more about the ruin’s legacy. Hammershus Slotruin is a popular destination for tourists and hikers alike, as hiking trails that lead to the ruin offer breathtaking views of rocky coast and the Baltic Sea. If you’re lucky, you can even spot the wildlife that lives in this area such as seals, seabirds and deer.
