Hamilton Pool is a natural wonder located just outside of Austin, Texas. It’s a picturesque grotto, with a limestone enclave protecting it from the harsher Texas environment. The pool is roughly 50 feet in diameter, and is fed by a 50-foot waterfall cascading over the limestone shelf. The EPA has classified the pool as a protected aquatic resource and swimming is prohibited. However, visitors are welcome to enjoy the scenery and observe the local wildlife. With its vibrant green foliage and crystal-clear waters, it is no surprise that this spot is a favorite of photographers and travelers alike. The surrounding preserve offers plenty of trails leading to other hidden gems in the area.
