📍 From Front, Iceland
Hallgrimskirkja is a Lutheran Parish Church in Reykjavík, Iceland. It is the largest church in Iceland and its tower rises almost 244 ft above sea level, making it visible from practically anywhere in the city. The striking modern design of the church is inspired by Iceland's natural landscape. Its architect, Guðjohnsson, based the church’s silhouette on the basalt lava flows found around Iceland’s coastline. Inside, the church's vaulted ceiling and organ pipes provide an impressive acoustical setting. Visitors can enjoy guided tours that provide information on the building's history as well as access to the tower, which provides sweeping views of Reykjavík and its surroundings.
