Half Dome

Half Dome is a prominent granite dome located in Yosemite Valley, United States. It is a gigantic, symmetrical block of rock rising almost sheer above Yosemite Valley floor, and is one of the most popular features in Yosemite National Park. Highly visible from many places in Yosemite Valley and with other attractions such as the Yosemite Falls, Half Dome is the most recognized rock formation in the park. Hiking to the top of Half Dome is the most sought after and difficult trail in the park. The hike includes cable handrails on the final section, which makes it an exciting adventure. Hikers should be comfortable with a 1,200-ft elevation gain, and should also be aware of the potential danger of rock slides, steep faces, and lightning in the area.Keep in mind that you need to obtain a Half Dome permit in addition to a regular Park Entrance Pass to hike this trail.
