Yerevan’s Great Bridge of Hrazdan, better known as the Kievyan Bridge, spans the Hrazdan River gorge between the Arabkir and Ajapnyak districts. Opened in 1956, it helped connect the expanding Soviet-era capital across a deep natural divide. Its sequence of high arches gives the crossing a recognizable profile, with the river and rocky slopes lying far below the roadway. Views from within the gorge reveal the height of the supports and the rhythm of the arches more clearly than views from street level, emphasizing the contrast between the bridge’s regular geometry and the rugged valley beneath it.
