Gutenberg-Denkmal is one of the best attractions in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Located in the city centre, the monument is dedicated to Johannes Gutenberg and celebrates his contribution to the printing press. Measuring 48 metres high, the structure is made of bronze, steel and sandstone, and is surrounded by a fountain and a pond. The monument, designed by Rudolf Siemering, was created to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the invention of printing press by Gutenberg. The obelisk symbolises the printed word, while the figures surrounding it represent the printers and book publishers. Visitors can learn more about the development of printing at the adjacent museum.
