Gullfoss (translated as "Golden Falls") is an iconic and breathtakingly beautiful waterfall situated on the Hvítá (White) river in the southwest region of Iceland. At 32 meters (105 feet) high, this double-tiered rainbow-filled waterfall cascades down two dramatic stages within a dramatic canyon, and is a must-see spot for visitors and photographers. Each stage has its own distinct and magical character; the upper stage lasting for about 11 meters, and the lower stage for a breath-taking 21 meters. The sheer force and power of the cascade creates an energizing atmosphere, as hundreds of thousands of gallons of water thread down the falls every second.
