Grande Arche de la Défense is a stunning monument situated in the La Défense business district of Puteaux, France. It was built to commemorate the bicentenary of the French Revolution in 1989, measuring 20 floors (110 meters) in length and 70 meters in width, and was designed by Danish architect Johan Otto Von Spreckelsen. It is a beautiful cement, granite and steel structure with a glass roof and contains plazas, galleries and meeting rooms. Tourists visiting the monument can explore it from the top of its terrace and on ground level through its 4 entrances. The structural complexity of the Arche is the main reason why it is believed to be one of the most iconic modern structures in France. Visitors to the site often take time to enjoy its sophisticated design, while couples flock to take wedding pictures in one of its magnificent plazas. If you are in the area, La Défense is also home to many other incredible attractions, such as the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle, the modern towers of CNIT and the placards overlooking the Seine river.
