Grand Arts High School is the first arts high school in California. It is a highly selective public high school based in downtown Los Angeles and dedicated to the visual and performing arts. The campus consists of 34 classrooms and studios, a contemporary gallery and concert hall, a state-of-the-art black box theatre, multiple art/design labs, and a chapel housed in three locations. It offers numerous classes in the visual arts, music and design, as well as some creative writing and theater courses. The school also offers numerous extracurricular activities, including student-run galleries, improvisation groups, and a traveling choir. Grand Arts’ mission is to support the creative development of all its students by providing rigorous instruction, engaging lesson plans, and opportunities to perform, exhibit, and compete in various exhibitions and competitions.
