Goldfield Mountains
๐Ÿ“ United States
The Goldfield Mountains are a rugged desert range in eastern Maricopa County, Arizona, north of Apache Junction and west of the Superstition Mountains, on the edge of the Phoenix metropolitan area. Much of the range lies within Tonto National Forest. Eroded volcanic rock forms an irregular skyline of cliffs, ridges and rounded peaks above the Sonoran Desert. Saguaros punctuate the slopes, while rocky washes cut through the foothills. These tall cactus forms give a sense of scale to the mountains, and angled sunlight brings out the fractured textures and folds of their rocky faces.
