The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks in San Francisco, California. It spans the Golden Gate, the one-mile-wide strait connecting San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Designed by chief engineer Joseph Strauss in the Art Deco style, it was the longest single-span and the first major suspension bridge in the world when it opened in 1937. Standing as tall as 746 feet, the bridge was later named one of the Wonders of the Modern World. It is a great location to capture the beauty and power of the natural landscape and urban cityscape - both are well-known and treasured around the world. A great way to experience it is by walking or cycling across the bridge's nearly 2-mile pedestrian walkway. On the San Francisco side, you can access a great vantage point and look out to the sea. From the Marin side, you can capture the views of San Francisco's skyline.
