Glenfinnan Viaduct carries the West Highland Line across a valley near the head of Loch Shiel in the Scottish Highlands. Opened in 1901, its 21 concrete arches sweep through the landscape in a broad curve, making the railway’s scale especially clear from the surrounding hillsides. The crossing is familiar from the Harry Potter films, where the Hogwarts Express travels over it. Outside the films, the seasonal Jacobite steam train follows this stretch of line between Fort William and Mallaig, its carriages tracing the full arc of the viaduct.
